Resident Rescued from Highview Drive Fire

On Saturday, September 12 at 12:26 pm WFD was dispatched to a residence on Highview Drive for a fire alarm. While enroute the call was upgraded to reports of smoke coming from the residence with an elderly male trapped inside and screaming.

First arriving units established a water supply and stretched a line to the front door. The crew advanced the line to the second floor into heavy smoke and found a victim in a room adjacent to the fire room and removed him from the structure. The victim was transported to an area hospital, his injuries were thought to be non-life threatening.

The fire was contained to a small area of a bedroom and no other units were damaged. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

WFD was assisted on scene by Avenel Truck 5-2-5, Fords Engine 7-1, Perth Amboy E-1, Hopelawn Rescue 8 (RIT/rescue), and Iselin 9-3-4 (air) while Colonia FD provided house coverage along with other WFD members. Other units responding and providing assistance were Woodbridge Police Department, Woodbridge CERT, Woodbridge Township Ambulance and Rescue Squad, Woodbridge Office of Emergency Management and Woodbridge Township Mutual Aid Coordinators.
