| On Friday, February 18, five recently retired career firefighters were recognized for their service to the community at a dinner held in their honor. Len Minkler, Jr., Ed McGuinn, Rich Foerch, Tom Distelcamp and Mario Simeone retired in 2010, each having served over 25 years as a career firefighter with the district. All five started in the department as volunteers; Len and Ed in 1978, Rich and Tom in 1979 and Mario in 1982 and went on to accept positions as career firefighters. While volunteers, Len, Rich, Tom and Mario served both as Lieutenant and Captain; Rich and Mario went on to become Chief of the department, in 1989 and 1990 respectively. Len and Rich both retired as career Captains. The Department thanks the men for their years of service and wishes them all a happy and healthy retirement. |
